On Saturday, the Jam Yesterday Jam Tomorrow projects’ Open Day took place in Marble Hill Park. Twickenham. Although not quite the sunny day hoped for, the grey sky didn’t deter people away. The volunteers had worked hard in preparing the garden for it.
The open day was part of capital growth’s Edible Open Gardens Day. Where a number of gardens were opened up to the public. For anyone who doesn’t know what this is, it is a chance for members of the Capital Growth food-growing network, to open their gardens and celebrate the achievements made.
Various stalls were set up offering fun games for children, such as Guess the seed. Seed swapping and gardening tours were also offered, giving insight into what a traditional heritage garden would have looked like. As well as stalls from local communities like the Hounslow Community Farming Association whose homemade produce proved popular with volunteers and visitors alike!
