We can help you network with your local council, statutory organisations or land owners, and with similar groups in South West London through the forums and networks in which we participate.
Ultimately, we aim to ensure your organisation is successful!
We are commissioned by Richmond Council to provide extensive support to environmental groups in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We use our expertise and experience to help groups, whether you are setting up, establishing a new project, expanding your group, seeking funding or other resources, or need help with a problem. We also have a bank of resources dedicated to helping local groups. Our ability to support groups elsewhere is limited.
We provide best practice guidelines for volunteers, covering health and safety, insurance, first aid and risk assessment and other guidance if you hold volunteer workdays. We can also help you find specialist services, such as legal aid, and can help you recruit volunteers through social media, our website and by placing adverts on the National Volunteering Database Do-it.

“Have received help from Sue re website and securing insurance for Bat Walk. Colin has been powerful source of info on a number of issues, from importance of long grass to aspects of our constitution. FoCP know that they are always available to help and support us which we value highly.”-- Friends of Carlisle Park, Hampton 2016
“We were successful in a bid to the London Marathon Charitable Trust for £150k and also received £12k from Tesco Bags of Help scheme … It’s been a long hard process but we’ve done it! And it is in large part thanks to your initial support and guidance. So a big ‘thank you’ from all of us once again for all you’ve done. We’d love to show you round some time and say thank you in person – we’ll be in touch!”. --Jim Millard Addison Road Community (2016)
“SWLEN’s help has been hugely important to the success of our group over the years, in getting us started and helping us overcome various challenges on the way. We’ve won a Green Flag award for the last five years running – I doubt whether we would have reached this point without SWLEN’s involvement and encouragement.” -- David Harnden, Chair, Friends of School House Lane Orchard, Teddington, 2016
“Just to say thank you for organising last night’s meeting and I thought it went very well. You covered a lot of items with good chairing!!” -- Colin Hume, Chair, Friends of Jersey Gardens Feb 2017 In relation to our organising of the Hounslow Friends of Parks Groups Forum
