Learn about Rewilding Arcadia, an initiative to find a sustainable future for the Thames riverside in our local area.

Jason Debney, Coordinator of the thames Landscape Strategy, will introduce their new project, Rewilding Arcadia, and its potential outcomes. Flood risk is increasing along the Thames and nowhere is more at risk than the upper tideway and lower freshwater reaches. How these spaces may need to evolve in the context of climate change and historic landscape significance is a careful balancing act.

Rewilding Arcadia is an initiative that sets out to find a sustainable future for the riverside.

We share the latest climate science on where our planet is headed, and practical solutions on how we can make a difference.

The planet is in ecological crisis: we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced. Scientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an emergency.

Speakers from Extinction Rebellion will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the psychology around climate change and the contribution that social movements can make to accelerate positive change.

Everyone is welcome and there will be time to ask questions and discuss afterwards.

Extinction Rebellion is a peaceful movement addressing the climate crisis through non-violent direct action (NVDA).

In this NVDA training you will find out how to peacefully take part in Extinction Rebellion actions. The training will cover the practice of non-violent techniques: showing you how to de-escalate tense situations, how to interact with the police, what to do if you get arrested and much more.

This training is highly recommended for anyone wishing to take part in the next Rebellion from 28 August to 9 September 2020.
