The 2019 Ham Open Gardens will take place on Sunday 19 May from 1pm to 5pm, giving the public a unique opportunity to go ‘behind the garden wall’ of a selection of the most beautiful private gardens in Ham, near to Richmond in south west London.
Organised by the Ham and Petersham Association (HPA) every two years, the event will take visitors on a fascinating journey through a variety of gardens which reflect the diversity of the area’s rich history. The 17 open gardens range from traditional large gardens belonging to grand Georgian lodges to highly innovative contemporary schemes and charming cottage gardens, as well as the Sanctuary Garden, which was exhibited at the Hampton Court Flower Show.
The event will include lots for all the family to enjoy, including a barbecue, homemade teas and music from the excellent Salamander Saxophone Quartet. Tickets are £11 each or two for £16.50 (free for under 16s) and can be bought from www.hamandpetersham.com/ham-open-gardens-2019 or on the day from a stall on Ham Common. Proceeds will go to Home-Start (a national charity supporting local young families), HPA and other local causes.
